Polio eradication has produced many heroes. Some of these heroes have paid the ultimate price in trying to eradicate Polio from the face of the Earth. At least 8 heroes have died by stepping on land mines or being shot while delivering the Polio Serum to children living in villages situated in dangerous countries. The Polio Eradication Heroes Fund has been set up to raise $30,000 for the families these heroes have left behind.
