I look forward to seeing you this Tuesday, after my lengthy trip. We thank Dr. Gloria Kaye for her insights in the domain of Energy and Healing. These are certainly topics close to my heart these days. Our speaker this week is Phil Palmquist on the topic of “A Current Federal and State Tax Update.” In view of the ambitious federal agenda and our state government situation, we can be confident that now more than ever there is an inevitability about taxes. As Oliver Wendell Holmes once noted, however, there is no patriotic duty to pay more than one’s fair share of taxes. Phil will provide some insights and useful tips to be sure you are aware of all the planning tools to avoid paying more than your share of taxes.
We look forward to inducting our newest member, Seira Salemon, whose sponsor is Joan Price at our meeting on Tuesday.
We have all been deeply touched by the scenes of devastation in Haiti. Our Rotary District is doing what it can by way of a response. Details can be found at the District web site. Many other reputable actors, including agencies such as Direct Relief International are also mounting substantial relief efforts.
Assignments for this week are as follows: Invocation: Murray Ray 50/50Raffle: John Glanville.
One correction that I stated inaccurately in the last Heads-Up: The Fireside Chat at John Brinker’s home is scheduled for February 12th (not the 26th).
Other upcoming events were correctly noted in the last Heads-Up. See you all soon.
Attention Board Members: The Board Meeting will be at 11:00 at Emilio's, just prior to our regular meeting.
Yours in Rotary Service.
