Our meeting was a fascinating mix of what is great about Rotary. Despite our songleader’s laryngitis , we persisted to carry a tune with a certain level of harmony. Harlan, we’re hopeful for a speedy recovery for your voice. Kurt reported on the District Conference Golf outing. There were ten attendees from Montecito Rotary at the District Conference and it was a well-planned and inspiring gathering.
Our speaker, Dr. Viktor Chakarian, an émigré from the former Soviet Union, shared some powerful messages about, health, fitness and opportunity. His is a compelling story and he spoke from the heart about our land of opportunity and described a path for fitness and health of importance to us but also to future generations.
Larry Thompson, our International Service Chair, provided a status report on our Club’s support for the Congo Project spearheaded by Club Member Victoria Bentley. Very encouraging progress is being made.
Gunnar Thomer distributed our new Club Directory that supplements our web site in a portable fashion. Thanks to Gunnar for stepping up. A tangible example of escaya.com making a difference for our Club. Those who weren’t at the meeting this week can pick it up next Tuesday 11/3/09.
