Rotary Club of Montecito

Weekly Meeting

September 8th, 2009

What happens if we need to navigate our labyrinthian health for ourselves or a loved one?  We had a most informative presentation from Wendy Edmunds and Dr. Bill Morton-Smith relating to this question.  Wendy Edmunds, after spending much of her career in the banking industry, is now a professional fiduciary and Dr. Morton-Smith, an internist for many years and also a past Medical Director at Direct Relief International have recently launched an enterprise known as Isis, which assists individuals in dealing with medical risk issues and advocacy, as well as estate planning through vehicles such as special needs trusts.  Negotiating the intricacies of SSI, Medi-Cal, and the healthcare maze is a daunting task and our speakers helped us understand some of the terrain involved….

Our program for next week (9/15) will be a return engagement by five time Emmy Award winning investigative reporter and Montecito resident, Peter Lance.  Not a stranger to our Rotary Club, Mr. Lance is the author of numerous books relating to 9/11 and its aftermath, as well as other issues.  Always provocative and memorable, he will share his perspectives and recent insights relating to current events and the role of government inn these events.  Are we caught in webs of conspiracies?  Do we even know?

Reminder:  District Conference in Ventura, October 23rd- 25th.

Assignments are as follows:  Invocation and Flag Salute, Chris Devries,  Back-up,John Glanvillel and 50/50 Raffle, Carolyn Brown.

Thoughts  for the week:

“ We did not all come over in the same ship, but we’re all in the same boat.”   Bernard Baruch

“What if the hokey-pokey really is what it’s about?  Anonymous
